Windows Media Player mobile does not recognize media library on storage card

Crappy experience with Windows Mobile 5 (on my HTC TyTN) #623:

If you’re using your storage card as a sync target for Windows Media on Windows Mobile 5, you might run into a nasty problem when you remove and re-insert the storage card.

Usually, Media Player Mobile let’s you switch between the media library on the device and on the storage card.

However, Media Player Mobile does not recognize the library when the storage card is inserted, e.g. when you accidentally eject the card.

The only solution I know is to delete the MSMETADATA folder on the card and re-synchronize using Active Sync. Which sort of depends on the availability of the synchronization peer. Otherwise, you have to play the files using "Open file…" for a while.

I’ll be sooo switching away from this crap to another media player, soon …
